Objective
To solve problems no one wants to address by creating new technological solutions that have an affordability index. We want to accelerate market readiness of breakthrough technologies by collaborating in prototype testing and field trials.
Research DNA
As a spinoff from one of the largest research institutes in Europe, doing Applied Research is in our DNA. We want to solve real problems and see these solutions gain market adoption.
Past Project
Software Defined Wireless Network (SDN4Wireless). Our first research project investigated innovative approaches for decentralised management of wireless access points for radio data transmission. This was sponsored by Bundesministerium für Bildung and Forschung. DeFuTech was an associate partner in a consortium of 5 other partners. The project lasted from Sept. 2015 – Aug. 2017. Current Project
Within the HiLeit project, DeFuTech develops and integrates resilient WiBACK communication nodes designed for demanding field deployments.
Our contribution includes hardware integration, rugged enclosure development, hybrid backhaul connectivity using terrestrial and LEO satellite networks, and the validation of these technologies in real-world demonstration scenarios.

HiLeit Demonstration at the 2nd BDBOS Innovation Forum
As part of the HiLeit (Highspeed Connectivity for Mobile Command Posts using LEO Satellites and 5G) research project, DeFuTech participated in the live demonstration at the 2nd BDBOS Innovation Forum – “Next Generation Public Safety Radio” in Berlin.
Together with our project partners, we demonstrated a resilient communication network combining WiBACK technology, 5G and Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity to provide reliable broadband communications for mobile command posts and emergency response operations.
DeFuTech contributed the hardware integration, including the development of a new rugged enclosure for the WiBACK communication node, supporting reliable deployment under demanding field conditions.
The video captures highlights from the live demonstration and showcases how innovative communication technologies can strengthen the resilience of critical public safety infrastructure.
